The ancient idea of a birthstone associated with each month of the year is traced back to the Breastplate of Aaron that was described in the book of Exodus in the Bible. The Breastplate was a religious garment set with twelve gemstones that represented the twelve tribes of Israel. In 1912, the National Association of Jewelers defined the modern day list of birthstones and the list has remained unchanged.
Each birthstone is believed to hold unique healing powers, astrological and mythical meanings.
The gift of birthstones is precious, personal and meaningful for those we love and cherish.
