There are a variety of reasons why you may need to have your ring re-sized. For example, some clients re-size due to fluctuation in one’s weight because the band becomes uncomfortable or too loose to wear. Other times, clients choose to re-size simply because they want to wear the ring on a different finger. Ring sizing is a very common procedure that can be performed on most types of rings. If you are new to wearing rings, a properly fitted ring might feel a bit tight for you. The ring should slide onto the finger fairly easy, and it should feel snug taking it off.
To increase the size of your ring, the jeweler will cut and open the band as much as needed and will then add a new piece of metal to fill the gap.
To decrease the size of your ring, the jeweler will cut out a piece from the ring and narrow the band by joining the two ends together.
After the ring has been re-sized, it should appear smooth and shiny, with no sign that it was worked on.
